An
organisation is nothing without human resource. People are the essential
ingredient in all organisations, be the organisation business, social,
government or religious. Also, it is the way in which people are recruited and
utilized by the managers largely determine whether the organisation will
achieve its goals. Lawrence Appley writes, “Working with, for and
through people is the way in which a manager accomplish his job. Maintaining
good human resource is manager’s responsibility. Providing human satisfaction
from work output and relationship is a manager’s obligation.”
Personnel
management is one of our most complex and challenging fields of endeavor. It
meets the firm’s recruitment for an effective “work force”. It is concerned
with the expectations of both employees and society in general. Perfering to
work with human rather than object is important in industry. Dale
Yoder says, “Managing people is the heart and essence of being a manager.” As
Frederick Kappel put it, “People are out most important resource and
every boss of people has to be his own personnel man.
