CHARACTERISTICS OF JOB ANALYSIS
The following
characteristics of job analysis are important:
1. It should be distinguished from worker analysis, which
focuses attention on the characteristics of employee, using physical
examination, tests interview and other procedure for this purpose.
2. Job analysis is also different from ‘work study’.
3. Job analysis is conducted post facto. It is done
after the job has become designed, suitable training is given to the worker and
the job is already being performed.
4. In job analysis facts are gathered, analysed and
recorded with respects to the job as it exists.
5. It comprises there distinct components: job
description, job specification, and job performance standards.
6. It is an essential and pervasive human resource
technique.
7. Job analysis, like organisation planning, is a method
of establishing a base against which the actual behavior of a firm’s employees
may be evaluating.
8. It is a word picture of the organisational
relationships, responsibilities, and specific duties that constitute a given job
or position.
9. Job analysis is a part of overall work planning called
‘work design’.
10. Jobs analysis is a formal and detailed study of jobs.
